You press Crick and the lift smoothly glides into life. After a few minutes the door slides open and you enter a red study. The walls are lined with hundreds of books in a variety of sizes and editions, all bearing the name of the same author ~ Gwen Crick.
You notice a series of framed magazine articles all upon similar themes, Gwen You’re Ready, Gwen Will I Be Famous?, Just the Cricket, Hat Crick, What a Cricky Customer, Gwenty Awards Later, Crick in the back of the Net, Gwen you’re in a Cricky Situation.
Next to this punning barrage, is a large painting of a distinguished lady in her early forties with piercing grey eyes, raven-black hair and wearing an immaculate silver-blue suit. She is holding an expensive pen and is poised over a large green manuscript with a superior look upon her face. The portrait artist has painted her sitting at the very desk that is within this room.
You suspect this study may belong to the author Gwen Crick, and the cloying atmosphere makes you feel uneasy.
