The Friday night fancy-dress ball at Bodley Towers has been such a smashingly clandestine success that society host Davenheim ‘Wobbly’ Bodley had completely lost track of who he’d been dancing with. Virginia Creeper? The Chimney Twins? The Queen of Puddings? The hired costumes were simply dazzling! And it had all been such a sweet daze.
But when DWB sluggishly awakes to a pounding head on Saturday morning, he slowly realises Bodley Towers is completely deserted. Not only have all the guests departed before breakfast, by the entire staff as well!
A strange atmosphere now pervades his ancestral pile. Curious creaking noises. The forgotten scent of a far-off time. A mysterious election of gigantic bones half-buried in the summer garden.
Wobbly is poised to telephone favourite cousin Beryl Brocc for emotional assistance, when the sudden appearance of a stylish and oddly-familiar stranger splits open a slithering mares-nest of depraved chicanery that tests his sanity to the very limit!
